It’s finally here – the 2022 Surf Cup International event in Salou, Spain kicks off this weekend in hopes to build off the massive success the event had in 2021. SCI sees players from all around the world come together in the beautiful destination of Salou to compete in a tournament format where teams are placed in groups and the top 2 teams from each group advance to single-elimination rounds. Last year saw clubs like PSG, Rangers, Valencia bring their youth academies to the prestigious event. This year will be no different – those same top clubs in addition to various others will land in Salou to make up a 90-team event across boys and girls groups.
While the majority of people in attendance of the event are there to play, SCI understands that players and their families will want to spend some time exploring, which is why the event takes place in Salou. There’s miles of beaches and secluded coves, world-famous cathedrals and some of the best food Spain has to offer, all within a short distance. It’s a perfect destination for the players participating to experience world-class soccer from various countries and their academies, while also providing plenty for the families to do in their downtime.
Given the success of the 2021 event, the team at SCI has also expanded to now offer a new location in Rome, Italy. Teams have the opportunity to battle in the heart of Italy while again exploring one of Europe’s most historic destinations. This event will take place in 2023 and you can register by clicking the link above.
