Experience Elite Competition & State-of-the-Art Facilities in Picturesque Salou

January 7, 2021

Surf International has partnered with International Development Academy to offer a one-of-kind soccer tournament experience abroad. The Surf Cup International in Salou, Spain gives athletes and their families the chance at an adventure unlike any other. Hosted at the Futbol Salou Sports Center in Salou, Spain, Surf Cup International will let American soccer players face off against some of the best young soccer players from all over world, while their families experience the “Beach of Europe.”

Build a Bridge

For young athletes to become the best, they need to compete against best. At every step of their development, they need to be challenged. That’s why Surf International is focused on connecting the best youth soccer players from around the world. High-level competition is a key ingredient in the diet of the world’s best youth players and challenging young players to get outside their comfort zone and play against top players in a foreign setting is a tremendous learning opportunity.

But the logistics of making that happen isn’t easy.  It’s a massive undertaking, one that includes all sorts of moving parts. From travel to lodging and more, organizing these types of tournaments takes expertise, know-how, and experience.

The good news is that Surf International has all of that, and more. IDA’s extensive network of academies and partners, from around the globe has allowed them to create a unique value proposition for clubs, players and families.

Surf Cup Sports events attract the best collegiate and professional American soccer athletes and this has allowed Surf International to have relationships with scouts from colleges and leagues from around the country.

Soccer meets culture

Maybe just as important as the tournament is the location itself.

Salou, Spain is a picturesque coastal town, part of the Costa Daurada in the Tarragona region. In other words, it’s absolutely beautiful. Athletes will train in state-of-the-art facilities against a backdrop of sun, sand, and ocean. While the tournament’s being held on professional-grade fields with FIFA-backed referees, the town of Salou boasts a beach beyond comparison, and some the best restaurants and cafes in Europe.

To top it all off, since the tournament is being held in November, you can expect sunny, clear skies with temperatures in the 60s.

“This isn’t just a tournament,” says Brian Enge, Surf Cup Sports CEO. “This is a chance to give athletes on both sides of the ocean a chance to broaden their horizons and interact with some of the best soccer players across the world.”  This is a truly unique experience that goes beyond the pitch, and will make memories that last way longer than a week in November.
